Generally, the inclusion of nanoparticles in paints and coatings is meant to uplift the properties of the latter. Is there any such report where the chemical nature of the coating agent might augment the beneficial properties of the nanoparticles as well? Or is the nature of coating agents of no importance at all? My work is in the line of anti-biofouling coatings for man-made structures like buildings, etc; hence, my question pertains to the antimicrobial properties of coatings.
