I have read many papers working on arabidopsis and Heterodera schachtii, in which the cysts, eggs and J2 juveniles were washed by chlorhexidine, chlorhexidine, sodium azide, mercuric chloride, streptomycin or other chemicals. Are these chemicals and procedures capable of removing all the contamination of fungi and protists (bacteria is not a problem) from Heterodera schachtii and meanwhile keeping the infectivity? Or is that possible to get fungi and protists free J2 juveniles by simple procedure like surface sterilisation?
