If someone uses a cut-off ELISA kit, is it possible to use the ODs for comparison of sample data to control groups and not only report positive and negative?
Yes you are correct. However, I have used a cell line with integrated viral genome, which is led to expression of an antigen continuously. For this reason, all of my treats are positive. But when I see ODs of different treats it can be concluded that expression of the antigen is relatively lower in treated samples than that in control cells. That was why I ask this question.
When you explained your experiment, it seems like you can add this observation to your results and can do statistical analysis provided that all samples have similar other variables except for antigen concentration measured by difference in ODs. ELISA, however can show different titers if you used different controls with different concentrations.
