It is not fair because almost all the equipment used by sportsmen, and other entertainers are product of research, science, and technology. While it is not fair, the real question is: can we change it? Let us take it easy and keep doing what we can while we can.
Interesting topic, I think its not fair, I see that in most countries of the world as well as developed countries did not provide the required scientists and researchers and that many of them, especially in third world countries did not provide them with the required level of attention and living a decent.

Entertainment is the biggest and largest Industry of the world !!! They spend a lot and hence deserve a lot ...We on the other hand contribute little (I am pretty sure of that )

It all lies in man's inner natural tendencies. It appears that people are more willing to pay for entertainment than anything else. You are are absolutely right to say that such a direction in modern world is unfair. However, this is the way it is and no one can do anything about it.
First of all, all scientists do not work for humanity; they prefer to work against the humanity; example is denial by fairly large number of scholars of the fact of global warming and plastic pollution, as it costs them their share from these lobbies(there are many more other examples....) Secondly all scientists do not work for salary, many work independently and live quite comfortable life. Thirdly, entertainment industry is glossy, shimmery, science is relatively boring....

Agreed, it's not fair! But, sportsmen, actors, singers, etc., who earned millions are rare and failure and abject poverty is a high percentage risk in these so called celebrities. When things are available in good supply its value goes down. Also, maybe it's because scientists often immersed themselves deeply in their works and monetary gains are not a priority. Satisfaction comes from inside, not outside, in knowing the novel and noble accomplishments their work brings about to the world and humanity at large.

Clearly absurd. The decades of learning, the huge effort, the vision for development, are not paid.
Science, culture, religion, rule of law, effort, are being forgotten. stupidities are winning. The superficial and hedonist view of life, a lie, is winning.
People are "taught and obligated" to guide themselves from below the hip (sex), instead from above the hip (heart, head). That way the mass is easily managed by advertisements, and market. They "use" people as part of their business. This is a enormous misconsideration of human being.
Industry command, market command. The law of supply and demand is creating generations of ignorants.

But, as we know, the market "laws"command. Every human being has an important amount of livelihood. If we are following we will find that every one is equal in general and the money is a part of it not every thing .
In contrast to singers, and mockers, who earn millions of dollars, too many researchers need money to fund their trip to conferences, and to the consternation, some conferences announce a few hundred dollars as award for travel funds available to researchers, and it seems humiliation. In the meantime, I think, research community should always stay away from money making, as "the worth of thinking is millions of time higher than saying prayer" as said in the Islamic texts. Also according to Islam, scientist is more valued than martyr. It is not only the matter of worldly life. Scientists should not be captivated and enticed towards money or showing-off or sport on their abilities. Paradise awaits honest scientists, while Hell is waiting for celebrities! This is the Almighty God disposition.
Any concern for pecuniary issues, has corrupting effect on individuals or society. Leave money for mockers, to null their fate, and keep scientists doing research for just the research itself, not money. Scientists earn legitimate popularity which lasts for long time even hundreds of years after their demise, but singers or mockers earn illegitimate popularity which might not last even for their life span. This is the difference!

I think we can not say in general that all sportsman, singers, and actors earn millions. Many athletes and artists most of the time can't even pay their monthly rent! I know many famous athletes in my country (Iran) who even won Olympics gold medal but can not afford their living costs. On the other hand there are lots of scientists who are rich compare to them. In the case of famous sportsmen (mostly football players) and celebrities, I think it might be fair for them to receive lots of money. Because they have the art of influencing people's heart and mind and most of them are using this ability and their money in good way. For example in natural disasters celebrities are the one who help people and attracting attentions to the topic. In case of scientists, I think if their work can really change something for humanity they can also earn good money~
