Is there any specific way to identify a particular neuron from substantia nigra in a primary culture? Like by a specific assay, molecular probe etc ?
Agree with Adil. Immunostaining is a good way to identify a certain population of neurons, say dopaminergic neurons in substantia nigra.
Dear Md,
Substantia nigra contains dopamine neurons, which can be identified by immunostaining against tyrosine hydoxylase (TH). See my J. Neurosci. paper (2006).
Cheers,
Sachiko
