I know that the integrity of the manager and his or her experience are both important in the selection process. But if you are in a situation to choose a manager from among two people, the first is characterized by integrity and the second is characterized by experience, which one to choose?
Integrity in manager is a key factor for a successful performance of the manager and the team. On the other hand, experience is undoubtedly significant in reaching productivity goals. But, there is no manager who has a pure integrity either a pure experience. However, choosing one among the two, depends on job requirements and tasks design. Managers with integrity are more open to diversity and changes, have a strong attitude of workplace ethics, stable moral character, a good sense of communication and feedback with employees and are more likely to show transformational leadership traits than those who are experience-based managers.

Integrity is a virtue. Zagzebski (1998) presents a set of virtues; namely, wisdom, courage, benevolence, justice, honesty, loyalty, integrity and generosity.
Opatha (2010) writes that:
“Absence of virtues results in the absence of a good personal character. Possession of virtues contributes to a good personal character, which leads to good personal quality. Good qualities or habits which do not harm a person are virtues. These are advantageous and favorable for self-development, others’ development and institutional development.”
My view is integrity is more important.

Preferably, the manager is honest, and experience can be obtained by learning, training and practice, but how do you get integrity?
Experience is better for trade-off because it can not be replaced. Integrity is interchangeable when control is strict and continuous

Integrity or experience: Which is more important in choosing a successful manager and why?
Actually both are equally important. If we need to choose either one - it depends on other information / factors like types of company the scenario is in, stakeholders immediate requirements, working environments e.g. project based or ongoing operations based etc.
For an example, if the company is a large MNC or global company, they might value more on integrity because even though the manager is inexperienced, s/he can always follow the established processes & procedures set by the company. Large companies usually have higher reputation / standards of business conduct whereby any violation will risk / cost a lot more to the company.
If stakeholders e.g. customers or subordinates need guidance to address certain issues urgently in a smaller size company, management might value experienced manager that can value add based on his / her vast experience & exposure.
In a project based working environment with tight deadlines, manager with vast experience can help address many issues more productively vs inexperienced manager with integrity. Of course some experienced manager might know what button to press when s/he can sense some ethical issues / dilemmas that need higher management to intervene. On the contrary, inexperienced manager working in ongoing operation environment can always spend time to learn / improve his / her lack of experience.
Integrity and experience are both important for the manager to succeed. The experience gives the manager experience in business management, while integrity contributes to maintaining the organization's resources.
If the term Integrity is defined as the firmness in moral qualities including honesty, a priority has to be given to integrity, particularly in a business environment where there is a serious need of avoiding or eradicating corruptions and frauds. Also being ethically correct is more important than being managerially correct from the view point of Sustainability necessitating to give priority to Integrity. However, in case of a job which does need a certain years of first hand experience, Experience (relevant) is more important than Integrity (although Integrity is a must to consider in selecting the most appropriate person).
