Thanks Krishnan, I agree with you, but we should bear in mind that there are dozens of research published every day, how can we distinguish that this research or that research contains a valuable scientific material? There should be attractions such as the journal's reputation and the name of a researcher.
@Amer- You have raised a very critical point for researchers. I think we still believe that a brilliant and genuine research output will also have greater readability and thus a higher citations by the trusted international institutions dealing the citation business. Let us believe this and continue doing good science.
(1) Reseach topic should be a current topic of importance.
(2) Reputation of the journal in which the article is published. Publish in Scopus/web of science indexed journals.
(3) Several reseach groups should work on the same area of your research across the globe.
(4) Cite more references in your published article so that as many as authors in those reference articles will be notified of your publication which in turn may fetch some more citation for your articles.
(5) Work on a research field which is continuously evolving or developing. Trying a very new theory or experiment may fetch you a patent or a good article on a top journal. But, citations can not be guaranteed.
(6) Write review article in your field which would fetch huge number of citations.
(7) Field opening articles will receive lot of citations. Add significant novelty and original contribution in the article.
(8) Evolve as an established and reputed researcher in your field.
(9) Switch to another field/topic of reseach if your current work is saturated. After a research area is matured i.e umpteen number of papers are published, citations will diminish. This can be asertained by literature survey.
(10) Include commonly used keywords throughout the article which will maximize the visibility of your paper in search engines. More reseachers read your articles more chances of receiving a citation.
