The litterature proposes a few conceptual models that attempt to describe the mechanical structure of adherent cells. Tensegrity theory being one of them.
I would like to know if there is a current consencus that would support one of them as being the most appropriate.
If you could include a few facts that support your opinion I would be grateful.

If you are interested in describing elastostatic behaviors of the cytoskeleton, than the tensegrity model is probbaly the most appropriate and the most comprehensive. You may also use the tensegrity model to describe viscoelastic behaviors of cells, but it is less successful than empirical viscoelastic models (e.g., power-law models).

Since the living cell is not static, the tensegrity model might not be the best to chose.
