Normally, if we need to isolate the lymphocytes from the lungs, perfusion through the heart is necessary, by which the blood lymphocyte contamination will be excluded and less red blood cells benefit the flow cytometry.

However, in terms of organ CFU monitoring, I tend to believe that perfusion is unnecessary.
