I'd appreciate examples of Thermoplastic Aromatic Polyimide processed in 1 stage ?

The common way to fully imidized Aromatic Polyimide (PI) consists of TWO stages:

1. Synthesis of polyamic acid (PAA) in aprotic solvent like DMAc, DMF or NMP; removal part of solvent and then

2. Imidization at elevated temperatures 200-350C (depending on PIs structure.

But to the best of my knowledge sometmes it happens that even during 1st stage the PAA precipitates as a powder.

Also for some thermoplastic PIs - it was observed that the imidization reaction is fully completed in solution... and the resulting PI precipitates.Or it precipitates after addition of some amount of non-solvent.

I would appreciate some examples of such PIs which:

a) could be prepared in solution (and then precipitated by addition of poor solvent)

b) or Aromatic PAAs and/or PIs - obtained in one stage in the form of powder.

Thank you.                               Leonid
