The absence of a peak cathodic current and the presence of a peak anodic current in a cyclic voltammetry (CV) recording during electrodeposition can be attributed to several factors. Here are a few possible explanations:

Electrodeposition Mechanism: In some electrodeposition processes, the reduction (cathodic) reaction may be sluggish or occur at a different potential range compared to the oxidation (anodic) reaction. This can result in an absence of a distinct cathodic peak in the CV recording. The anodic reaction, on the other hand, may proceed more readily, leading to a visible peak in the anodic current.

Incomplete Reduction: If the reduction reaction during electrodeposition is not fully completed during the CV scan, it may result in an absence or reduction of the cathodic peak. This can happen if the reduction kinetics are slow or if the deposition process is limited by factors such as mass transport limitations or inadequate contact between the electrode and the species being reduced.

Side Reactions: Sometimes, side reactions can occur during electrodeposition that consume the reduced species or interfere with the electrodeposition process. These side reactions can compete with the desired reduction reaction, leading to a diminished or absent cathodic peak. The anodic reaction may still proceed as intended, resulting in a visible peak in the anodic current.

Experimental Conditions: The absence of a cathodic peak and the presence of an anodic peak can also be influenced by the experimental conditions, such as the scan rate, electrode material, electrolyte composition, pH, and temperature. Altering these parameters can affect the kinetics and thermodynamics of the electrodeposition process, leading to variations in the shape and presence of the peaks.

it simple shows the complete redox reaction is not happening over there you should check electrolyte and other external factor meanwhile exposed surface area of electrode is also responsible.
