For any shape the centroid-radii model can be used to get a vector representation : find the centroid and draw multiple radii from it to the periphery, calculate normalized lengths of the radii and store in a vector. Other than that statistical measurements like major axis, minor axis, perimeter, area etc. can provide shape representations.
