I am working in my Master thesis. I need any book or publication about the impact of recycling in developing economies. I am interested to know, for example:
-- if a ton of any material is recycled how many new jobs are created?
-- The impact of a ton recycled material in GDP of country?
-- And any other information similar with the above questions.
1. At first, assume that the recycling is as work intensive than producing goods from virgin materials, and the net of export-import is 0.
In this case, if the recycling cost less than the production of virgin material, the net changes in jobs will be negative. If the recycling costs more, the labour balance would be positive. Now, you can analyze more details.
2. Imported proportion in the products. Recycling can create jobs domestically, while virgin material producers loose jobs in another country.
3. If the country is net exporter of virgin materials, this export could be larger by recycling, so there is no job loss in the virgin material production industry, therefore, all recycling jobs are gains.
4. Recycling can be more labour intense than using virgin material. In that case even the same cost of product can result in additional jobs.
5. Socio-enviro-economic benefits, all monetized. If they are existing, other jobs created in the economy. Use economic multipliers from input-output modes.
