I have a peptide which can form fibrils upon heating. I wish to find some application to that. What are the experimental conditions should I try to find whether my peptide form a hydro gel ? How will I know that whether my peptide an form any supra molecular structures or nanomaterials? can anybody suggest some reading materials

Hi Sujeesh, you should vary the concentration of the peptide in solution, probably at some concentration you will get a hydrogel. A easy test you can do is a inversion test of the eppendorf, if the solutions falls it is not a hydrogel yet! Have a look at a recently paper the work I group published!

As mentioned by Sergio Kogikoski Jr, inversion test is the simplest experiment you can try. Please note, the concentration, the solvent system as well as the incubation time is significant. Please take a note of that. All the best!
Hi, buddy. if your sample concentration is high enough, it should form hydrogels, as almost all the peptide nanofibers could form hydrogels at proper concentrations.
