I faced the problem that I could not got the relatively smaller size (30 - 50nm) but always got >100nm silica nanoprticles.

I am using water- in - oil (cyclohexane / hexanol / triton-x-100/ water) to synthesis the silica nanoparticles (SNP). I followed some papers step to synthesized that their SNP are around 50nm.

7.7 ml cyclohexane / 1.8 ml hexanol / 1.77 ml triton-x-100/ 0.5 ml water, and the w/o ratio is 10 : 1, stir 24h, and add 100ul TEOS and 60ul NH3H2O, stir another 12h. After that, I used 10 ml acetone to break microemulsions and EtOH to wash twice, Milli.Q to wash twice and detected the size by DLS.

Could you give me some advices or is there any mistake during my process under your experiences?

I am looking forward to your reply. Thank you.
