If this is for TEM and the chips are like culture dish plastic, then you can run a standard TEM exp and embed with EPON 812, in the dish. Just avoid transition solvents, go from ethanol to plastic. When you are ready to cure, add a very small amount of plastic to cure (not to thick) at 37 C for 2-3 days, then overnight at 60 C. Once hardened use a needle nose pliers (and or hammer) to remove the plastic pieces containing the cells (remember which side the cells are on). Then remount small discs (either handsaw cut or use a metal punch) onto epon blanks using crazy glue (cell side out).
Cut normally, but careful not to cut past cells.

A cell monolayer may be grown directly on a glass coverlip that can be trimmed and placed on a standard grid and viewed with a standard TEM. I have never done this but SEM could also be tried.with proper splatter preparation.
