When we rethink the whole situation from the square one, what is the main cause of diseases? The first intuitive answer would be 'protection' using any technological & societal means.

The deeper answer/question is: "Why people get sick in the first place and which segment of them?"

Here, we encounter the area of personal condition, health, and resilience. What does it mean? When we study segments of the population that are sicker & mostly affected by the infection, we found one single striking signature: systemic inflammation.

It is known that currently used food & lifestyle are highly destructive to microbiota living in our guts. From dysbiosis of this ecosystem of bacteria, viruses, yeasts, molds, and parasites are people getting inflammation first within large intestine and later within the whole body.

This inflammation stays behind metabolic syndrome, diabetes, atherosclerosis, cancer, autoimmune diseases, Alzheimer and other neurodegenerative diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, and we can go so on.

By teaching people to live a healthy life, eat healthy food, do not do drugs, exercise, apply daily grounding (it is highly anti-inflammatory), we can build a robust population having higher level resistance against all diseases and not only infections of all kinds.

It is not 100 percent protection, for sure, but according to statistics of affected people and those who did not survive it, this approach will decrease the seriousness of the impact of this (COVID-19) and the future infections in all population segments.

When I studied we used open flame burners in our laboratory. A spirit burner needs enough air to change the air into a box or room and burns the patogenic parts in the air.

I will analyze your idea better for factories and labs.

However, I think that for school and office environment it will not be possible to use this due to danger of handling inflammable fuel and burner itself.

I appreciate your opinion and urge to safeguard people at tough times like this.

Pandemic outbreak occurs rarely but anyways we need to ensure public/ workers safety in laboratories and industries definitely. The air filtration can act effectively from the suggested ones. The sterilization/ disinfection also needs to be done frequently evacuating people. More than all, the conscious awareness to precautiously prevent and protect individuals themselves by adopting safety measures in times of pandemic is the only way to safeguard themselves from infection/ death. The technological advances in diagnostic systems, treatment methods and prophylaxis greatly saves people's life at the earliest. The shut-down of schools, and colleges by adapting other means of education system at times of pandemic is important because the young minds cannot be put at risk. At offices too, alternative mode of working system need to be implemented such as robotics at times of emergency and if people, then online working system and so on....

Yes, I agree with everything, but we need to be more effective in what we do so that we can get back to normal.

In 2019 I could agree with you that pandemics are rare, today I completely disagree. And I don't think we'll be going another hundred years without another pandemic, probably more aggressive and lethal than this one.

So engineering needs to find better and more effective solutions.

Air filtration to be effective would require a system that is so expensive that it cannot be used even in hospitals.

Here in Brazil, schools are back in operation with a reduced number of children, this goes for offices and factories.

I fully agree with prophylaxis and precaution, but I think it will not be enough.

I am very concerned since new variant of the virus is more contagious than original, it appeared in South Africa, England and Brazil.

Yes, I do agree with your opinion that we cannot wait for century for the occurence of pandemic as the situation is worse after 2019. Before we could combat COVID-19 with vaccine, another variant emerged in England, South America, and Brazil. We cannot limit it to only those countries and it can spread over the globe in future taking many lives bringing unwelcomed situations. It is the time for engineers, scientists, technical and medical experts and governments around the world to look for suitable solutions in all aspects such that the world gets back to normal and functions the same way effectively for ages to come. The environmental measures such as risk assessment, strict regulations on release of chemicals (pesticide, pharmacological residues, organic compounds etc.), pollution abatement (air, water, land) and remediation, addressing climate change issues, balanced biodiversity will directly/ indirectly help to prevent the emergence of superbugs and new pathogens.

The question is how to provide this now, engineering solutions and not in the form of food and people's previous health.

It is what to do now, after the pandemic is installed, there is no yesterday.
