Hello,

I recently started working in a soil testing lab and am in charge of operating a new piece of equipment in the lab. We are using 4g soil to 40ml extraction reagent, shaking the mixture, and filtering/centrifuging the extract. There is no dilution of this extract, we simply load the extract into vials and run them. The machine has a prompt to enter the dilution factor that defaults to 1 and I am unsure if the sample processing method is technically a sample dilution. The machine is a elementar Vario TOC cube TOC/TIC/TNb analyzer. We also have an ICP-OES that I will eventually be trained on that also prompts for dilution factors and once again, I am unsure if processing the sample counts as diluting. Any help from fellow soil scientists or anyone that can point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Kyle
