I have study the structure of icosahedral virus caspid. I know it can bee divided intotrisymmetrons and pentasymmetrons, but I find it is difficult to define trisymmetrons and pentasymmetrons on the capsid in chimera. I don't know how to define the bound of tri- and pantasymmetrons. Could you give me some help of how to do this?

Normally, the symmetry should already have been assessed and used in reconstructing the 3D particle from the 2D cryo-EM images - do you not have access to this data?
The capsid may be reconstructed with icosahedral symmetry. However, this information is no help for identify the trisymmetrons and pentasymmetrons . By just seeing the capsid from either outside or inside in Chimera, it is difficult to tell the boundary between trisymmetrons and pentasymmetrons. It may easier to see the outline of the trisymmetrons, but for pentasymmetrons, it is no easy.
I think it may be helpful if I can segment the whole capsid into single capsomers, but the Segger tool in chimera gives larger regions than single capsomers.
Could you give me some suggestions?
