Units to indicate the enzyme activity of thrombin seem to deviate from the "standard" units. How do I convert the NIH - units to micromoles / minute?

Thrombin concentrations in the literature are typically
reported in terms of different units of activity.16,17
Several conventions are used to express thrombin
activity in the literature:
1 IOWA unit = 0.83 NIH unit
1 WHO unit = 1 NIH unit
1 NIH unit = 0.324 ± 0.073 mg
1 NIH unit = 1 USP unit

The best way to make this conversion is to do the experiment yourself under your own assay conditions. You need a way of measuring the micromoles of product formed. Then you can compare the rate you measure to the number of NIH units that went into the reaction.
