Hi all,

I am working with equine-adipose derived stem cells. After culturing the primary culture of the stroma and performing the first passage in our quarantine unit, I made the corresponding mycoplasma test. Unfortunatelly, It was positive.

We extracted samples from health horses in a vet clinic, however It is difficult due to the tight skin of horses, the needed manipulation of the body area to get the fat, etc.

What I would like to ask is if somebody knows about the most frequent species of mycoplasma in horses, in order to know if there are any efficient cocktail of antibiotics as solution, and also how to avoid this problem during the extraction/transportation. The fat should be sterile, the skin was shaved and cleaned but it is difficult not touching the skin and the room it is a clinic for animals (Although it is a surgical procedure, animals have their immune system etc.)

I would appreciate very much help because It is a long and hard procedure, but It is the life. Any other advice/issue/observation?

Thank you very much,

Sergio.
