How often does M.bovis BCG need to be subcultured?

I am not sure how long I should let my culture grow before doing a subculture. Is it right after log phase (around 1.0 OD) or can it be grown for a longer time? Thanks in advance

The doubling time for BCG is ~16hours. In my experience, you can sub BCG cultures at a lower O.D. I have went down to 0.6-0.8. I wouldn't let it grow longer than and OD of 1, due to the amount of dead cells. Resuscitation of the live bacteria could be difficult and growth might take longer.
