Yes it is very much possible that mycoplasma bacteria can infect any cell line due to FBS. I suggest you test for their presence by simple DAPI staining. If present, you can start treating your cell line with mycozap or plasmocin.

It also depends on where you get your cell lines from. If you get it from another lab there is a chance that there is infection, if you get it from ATCC then it should be clean.
There are precautions to take, wash your hands up to the elbow before doing TC, spray all bottles in the water bath down with ethanol, make sure it's dripping with ethanol. Don't share media, trypsin or pbs. Use different tips and pipettes for different flasks of cells. If worse comes to worst and you get contamination, best bet is, if it's not a super precious line and you can get more, kill the cells with bleach, sterilize everything, including the incubator, toss all the old media and pbs and start over.
