Yes. and in many moments. Chronic inflamation could cause cancer. For example cancer on the abdomen wall among the inhabitants of the Himalayas, arising from multiple burns from pots with hot coals (kangri), which are tied to the abdomen to warm the body.
Furthermore some inflamation cells take active role in cancer progression, It is very very huge number of these relationships.
