Yes, mineral leaching leads to pH decrease in soils. This proces is intensified in areas with high levels of air pollution and a lot of rainfall. High lvls of organic matter in the soil could buffer pH drop but eventually it will get to 4-5 pH where mineral level is very low. Also carbonate origin soils are capable of buffering this effect.
Decrease in soil pH (Soil acidification) occur during warm humid condition as a result of leaching from rainfall. But in dry weather conditions, soil leaching is less
intense resulting in alkaline or neutral pH.
