How does heparin bind GFs and control their release? Is it ok to just mix it to crosslinkable hydrogel to control GFs release without conjugation? ?

I want to have a simple way to incorporate GFs in hydrogels for their long term release. Heparin might work, but I am not sure how to use it correctly? Thanks a lot.
