I'm currently storing a solution of 1% osmium tetroxide (1 gram OsO4 in 100 mL dH2O) in a glass bottle with a plastic cap under a fume hood at room temperature. However, I am concerned that the fumes may leak out through the plastic cap and contaminate the inside of the hood, potentially leading to risk for myself and others. If there are any other measures to increase the safety of this storage, please let me know as soon as possible.

In addition, I am planning on staining some tissue slices with this 1% OsO4 solution. If you could also provide advice on safe handling during the staining process, that would be appreciated! This is my first time working with OsO4, so I want to be extra careful!
