I am culturing 3T3 adipocytes. I want to measure glucose consumption by the cells..One person suggested me to check the glucose in media by normal calorimetric glucose assay (Instead of Glucose Uptake Assay)..I have little doubts over its senstivity..Please suggest.

I agree with Lorenz Adlung. I wish to add that Colorimetric, flurometric and radio-labelled methods are available for estimating glucose uptake in vitro. Please refer to the links

I would like to add on that I performed glucose uptake assay using 2DG (an analogue of glucose which cannot be metabolized by cells) in 3T3-L1 adipocytes and I obtained good results.
Hola Gautam. For me, the most rapid and accurate method is use the glucose strips for diabetic people, loading a drop of medium or supernatant instead of blood. Buena suerte

Gautam , I use them to know the glucose concentration in yeast culture. It takes less than 30seconds. and it´s based in a glucose oxidase sensor. The range of measure goes from 0-1g/l of glucose in the sample, which is similar at the mammal cells medium concentration. Make a assay comparing the values with the obtained by other colorimertric assay and you will see the correspondence with the other methods values and afterwards in the publication decide what method describe. Check in the net the accurancy and easybility of this method. Good luck
