I want to produce electrospum fibers from PAN/Chitosan composite. The problem is that PAN is soluble in organic solvents like DMF but chitosan is not. I know that chitosan should be modified to be soluble but I do not know the easiest and strightforward method for dissolving in DMF. What do you suggest?
If DMF is soluble/miscible in water, chitosan can be dissolved in 10 % v/v acetic acid in water and this solution can be mixed with DMF drop wise. I don't know whether DMF is soluble in water.

DMF is soluble in water. Do you know how much chitosan is possible to dissolve in water-acetic acid solution?
Actually, dissolving of chitosan depends on Mw of it. If its Mw is high, it might not be dissolved in acetic acid solution. HFIP is a good solvent to dissolve high Mw chitosan. Dissolving of both PAN and chitosan in HFIP can be tried to get good e-spin solution.
