Dear all

Greetings of the Day!

I shall be grateful if you can address a few queries pertaining to Cronbach's alpha.

I have a dataset which comprises about  98 variables/items i.e. four factors, sub-factors and five items each for every sub-factor as suggested by my PI. However, there are a few items (age, gender, place, names etc.) which are also there on the excel worksheet. I would like to ask you if I am supposed to include these items while calculating the values for cronbach's alpha.

I would further like to ask if the sample size of 50 respondents for about 98 variables suffices for computing cronbach's alpha?

Also, can the value of cronbach's alpha differ for every factor/sub-factor or it has to be computed keeping the entire dataset in mind?

I shall be grateful if you can address these few queries pertaining to cronbach's alpha!

Thank You in Advance!
