I used "nummrg,node" for electromechanical coupling between a beam and a piezolectric element. I think it should work. The "nummrg" in keypoint mode is also possible. The nummrg command must be preceded by selection of nodes which have to be merged together as one. Follow this link for a better understanding of the command

Before meshing ...... assign the two elements to have connected nodes and after meshing merge those nodes...... This is based on node connectivity
