Can't we select elements without coding?

i think no....because as per my understanding old ansys elements are being replaced by new 18x and 28x series elements but are kept in software as researchers who worked with these elements for a long time.....benchmark them against so many parameters...so they feel more comfortable with these elements only....but these old elmements are not available in GUI....

If you want to change the elements type inside a part in mechanical - insert a commands with et,matid,45,,,,,,,,,,

The matid represents material numer unique for each of the parts.

How can we apply contact elements between two solids???????

As for example i want to apply contact 174 between mortar and brick.

To create a contact element do the following:

1- On the GUI of ANSYS go to :Preprocessor >Modeling>Create>Contact pair

2- Contact Manager window will pop up

3- Click on Contact Wizard (the left icon on the window)

4- Choose your target surface

5- Choose your target type.

6- Pick target , press Ok, and then press next

7- Choose Contact Element Type

8- Pick contact , press Ok, and then press next

9- Change Optional Settings as per the  case you are dealing with

10- Finally press (Create)

How can we assign ''elements attribute'' selecting one solid elements at a time since i m using three solid elements,is there any option to hide one volume and select other volumes???

change your preference first, what type analysis is you want ...

structural, thermal or etc

element type will define agree with preference

what element type do i use for modelling a portion of a reinforced concrete section that is grouted with a) cement grout   b)an expansive non shrinkage grout.

also how do i connect the reinforcement bars to the grouted portion which is in turn connected to the concrete.

You can model it by using SOLID 65 element and contact elements can be used between the grout and reinforcement.
