How can reviewers of manuscript get some financial incentives for for carrying out such academic task?

Financial incentives can be negatively motivated / driven & subject to abuse.  Think non-financial incentives are not worse off e.g. entitlement to access / download free articles from the journal for e.g. 1 month etc.  Alternatively, you can register & update your reviews done into publons (see link below).  I used that to track reviews that I'd completed & earn some brownie points like RG score.

Incentive may be good to encourage the reviewer but it can be easily abused. Moreover, reviewing manuscript should be seen as a volunteering job and not for gain.

The journals where I pay for pubblishing my works should pay the referees.

I do not Pay for publishing and I perform reviews mainly to learn new things....it is a volunteering job, I agree with Olusegun, a very stimulating way to improve scientific knowledge

In my own opinion, just a little incentive to boost the morale of the reviewers eventhough it is a volunteering job. The publishing journald idn't publish for free anyway. What about that?

Instead of giving financial incentives to reviewers, many of the peer reviewed journals have started publishing the name of the reviewers ( For example Frontiers Publishers) which is a recognition. Academically also, now it is gradually being recognised as a serious academic business. So recognition of reviewers is most important in scientific publishing.

Money should not be involved in this process. The sanctity should be maintained

Dear colleagues, 

Nice question and need to be discussed at length. I agree with the views of Dr Dasog and Dr Paul. Yes, financial incentive should not be involved. I can consider 4 situations.

1. An expert in service who has enough time to do reviewing and willing to to do justice to his scientific knowledge, may not require and incentive. Going through the manuscript and reviewing itself is an incentive for him.

2. An expert in service who doesn't have enough time to do reviewing may require some incentive. Incentive need not be in the form of money, but some recognition. They may be invited for get together of the Publisher/journal to recognise the work. 

3. A retired expert needs some incentives for reviewing. 

4. Nowadays there are several predatory journals which doesn't bother about scientific review rather namesake review provide incentive in the form of cost free publication of the reviewer's article in the designated journal.  

There is another condition that, why should a scientist/ expert has to spare his valuable time for reviewing, if he/she has no reward at all. The world is moving very fast and people feel that they have no time to spare. 

I forecast that a time will come when publishers have to hire people for reviewing similar to copyright editors/editors in their own office. I have heard that getting a good reviewer is a tough task for the journals.

In Iraq, $ 10 is paid for auditing and evaluation of research. I think this amount is small and non-incentive

Money should never be brought into any kind of reviewing  any manuscript  in any scientific publishing ... 

Thank you for your input to this discussion Dr. Anoop Kumar.But sir what about some notable journals with very high Article Processing Charge (APC). Young and vibrant researchers may find it financially difficult to get their research findings published.

This issue , we have already debated  about the journals demanding processing charges.  The best incentive to a reviewer is the publishing of reviewers name , opposite to authors. And  it brings some kind of novelty  to publication having high impact factor...

Journals generally print names of reviewers in the end of year. They also offer discount on books published by them and provide passwords to access free literature of any Journal belonging to that publisher. Are Journals  making huge profits, I do not think so. So financial gains for reviewers seem to be impossible.  Its more a community service.

The financial incentive has two effects, one of which is positive through the evaluation of the  reviewers effort, and the other negative, which leads to concessions at the expense of scientific and research value. Unfortunately, the negative impact is more in our world today. So there should be new ways of evaluating the reviewer's work.

To review an article is normally voluntary work, like many other activities in the academic sphere, they say to you, it should be a pleasure to do so, particularly the boss, full professor, uses to proclaim this message to a pained assistant who does the work for his superior.

just a quick response to Leonardo:

if you choose to publish open access I agree that fees are considerable;

personally I choose to publish non-open access and for free,  as research grants are getting harder and harder to get , I prefer to use my budget in scholarships for my young collaborators
