There could be several reasons for forming threads near the needle tip.
Change the flow rate and voltage (Increase flow rate and reduce voltage). Additionally, you can monitor the distance between the needle tip and the collector. Those are the primary parameters. Altering them could reduce/remove the clotting near the needle tip.
If the above solution doesn't work, you could change the solvent or polymer concentration next step.
In the process of electrospinning of a polymer ,threads at the needle tip are forming because of the solvent is evaporating very fast and the polymer is solidifying .So make sure that solution flowrate you should maintain or change the suitable solvent.
In addition to all the above, also consider the humidity in the ES chamber. If your polymer is sensitive to water, it could lead to solidification at the needle tip and thread formation. Nitrogen purging can be used to provide an reduce the humidity in the chamber.
As everyone just mentioned here, Increasing the flow rate and reducing the voltage does help you to avoid the polymer from clogging at the tip of the needle. You can also stop the process momentarily, reduce or change the pressure applied to push the syringe, wipe the clogged polymer from the tip, and try again. Another parameter is the distance between the needle tip and the collector. You can try increasing or decreasing the distance to see what effect it has on the clogging of the polymer.
