My aim is to collect flowers from detached tomato branches after four days. For this, I am keeping tomato branches in water until four days. After three days, part of the branches which were soaked in water are getting soft, followed by tissue damage and finally death. To avoid micro-organisms contamination, adding sodium dichloroisocyanurate. How do I rectify this problem?
Thank you Roland. I am keeping the branches in water for long time (picture attached), that why the branches which are soaked in the water getting softtend and damaged after three days. For my experiment, I need to do more branches to collect more flowers. I will take your idea of wet tissue paper in the box and keep the branches. I hope this may reduce the damage of the branches. Please share if you have an better idea than this...
I agree that keeping the branches soaked in water is an invitation to various kinds of rot. I would favor the moist paper, or "Perlite", or even moist soil, which could then be washed off later. If you use paper the advantage would be that you could replace the paper every day and keep the stems clean..
