Why there is a need to heat the plate after I dip it in the CAM stain?
Does anybody know the reaction mechanism and its purpose of each of the CAM ingredients (Ammonium molybdate tetrahydrate, Cerium ammonium sulfate dihydrate, Sulfuric acid) with the carbohydrates? I'm looking to understand what residues and atoms react.

it's oxidative staining stain and it's work on the principle of oxidation reduction and it's work similar to PMA (Phosphomolybdic acid) stain. In PMA stain H3[P(Mo3O10)4] * xH2O is Mo6+ compound, light yellow. Upon exposure to reducing organics Mo5+ and Mo4+ compounds are formed which are green or blue colored.
Strong heating is required to make the oxidation-reduction reaction to see spot on TLC.
yes, you have to super heat your TLC to obtain a clear blue colored spots

yes some compounds required particular temperature so that they can activate and clearly visible
