I am growing my HEK293T cells in DMEM, 10% FBS, 1% glutamax, and 1% pen-strep. I get a new plate from my postdoc and they seem to grow fine for 1-2 passages, then they acquire dark blue cells and they detach from the plate and dye overnight.

What am I doing wrong?
