Hi all,
Does someone know what a Geant4 physics-list has to contain to perform a good neutrons' propagation from low to high energies (few keV to about 100 MeV)?
I would like to be able to tune it using elementary processes instead of using a standard physics-list such as QGSP_BERT_HP or others...

Did you try FTFP_BERT ? this works for leakage and neutron activation.

The QGSP_BERT/BIC_HP physicslist basically consists of several individual processes for which the energy ranges in which they are applied are set. If you want to use something similar but not exactly the same you can simply build up a similar list of processes yourself, for example, for the inelastic part you can do:
// intermedium energy (Bertini)
G4CascadeInterface* bertiniModel = new G4CascadeInterface();
bertiniModel->SetMinEnergy (19.9*MeV);
bertiniModel->SetMaxEnergy (9.9*GeV);
// Low Energy:
G4NeutronHPorLEInelastic* NeutronInelasticModel = new G4NeutronHPorLEInelastic();
NeutronInelasticModel->SetMaxEnergy( 20.0*MeV );
// and in addition model between 9.5 and 25 GeV
G4LENeutronInelastic *LEInealstic = new G4LENeutronInelastic();
LEInealstic->SetMinEnergy(9.5*GeV);
LEInealstic->SetMaxEnergy(25.0*GeV);
However, for propagation (elastic scattering) in the keV and MeV energy range QGSP_BERT_HP uses a (high precision) data based model for propagation. From what I understand this is the most reliable way to go here.

any physics list with '_HP' is able to treat thermal neutron propagation with a good precision.

To be precise for proper thermal neutron propagation there is G4NeutronHPThermalScattering, however this is only relevant for eV energies and below.

As far as I understand the BIC (binary) and Bertini (BERT) cascade models are valid for the same energy ranges. The differences are that Bertini is valid for a wide range of hadrons for energies velow 10 GeV, whereas the binary model is mainly good for modelling pions (below a few GeV) and protons and neutrons below 10 GeV.

Hello, I have a question if you could help.
I just installed Geant4 and I am trying to run a model made by others with a previous version.
I get an error due to two missing files: G4LElastic.hh and G4MuonMinusCaptureAtRest.hh
Maybe they were eliminated by the latest releases? Are there new classes to include in their place?
It's the first time I put my hands on Geant4 so I am really not familiar with all this.
