Does brown colour of my original sample colour does not change to colourless after been added with HCl. Is it acceptable ?

Hi i am doing flavonoid testing. The orgininal colout of my Mahkota Dewa sample is brown. I took 1ml of the sample and put it into test tube. After addition of NaOH the sample turns brown plus intense yellow. But after been added with HCl , i make the yellow colour disappear and just brown as the original colour. Based on journal it should be colourless. Is colourless refer to ' back to the original colour ' or no more original colour of the sample ?

Brown colour of my original sample colour does not change to colourless after been added with HCl. It is right. Colour depends upon the structure & chromophoric groups. If there is no effect of change of PH , the colour may remain as such .
