HI all,
I am wondering how Kanamycin works on protein production in e. coli.
I heard that Kanamycin and Ampicillin have different mechanism for controlling cell growth.I learned how Amlicillin works but I do not know how Kanamycin does.
Can someone explain the mechanism of Kanamycin briefly and what happens if there is depletion of kanamycin in my bacteria culture media (I usually use LB).

Kanamycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. Aminoglycosides work by binding to the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit, causing misreading of t-RNA, leaving the bacterium unable to synthesize proteins vital to its growth.
if there is depletion of kanamycin, bacteria may kick out plasmid having kanamycin resistant gene since no selection pressure.
