Just recently, I came in contact with this recently described protein (CLAN, CARD12, etc..). The first paper concerning it was published in 2001:
Damiano, J. S., C. Stehlik, et al. (2001). "CLAN, a novel human CED-4-like gene." Genomics 75(1-3): 77-83
In this paper Dr. Damiano shows the distribution of the complete isoform A (CLAN A, 1024aa), limited to just some tissues, and of the ubiquitous isoform B (CLAN B, 359aa), derived from a differential splicing of 4th exon. Since 2001 I've found that about 135 papers have been published concerning the role of CLAN A in the formation of caspase-1 inflammasome, but nothing about the role of the more abundant isoform! Does anyone have information on the role of isoform B? If so, can you give me some suggestions on where to find it?
