I want to simulate a microring resonator in 3D. I have done a 2D simulation successfully. But, I am going through a lot of problems in the implementation of the model in 3D. Can anyone give a step-by-step tutorial on microring resonator 3D modeling and boundary mode selection? Or, any already done 3D file? Any suggestions will be very helpful. Thank you.
I recommend design it in 2d axis symmetry then rotate to get the full geometry

Shaymaa Al Tahhan I have done that exactly. But I am confused with the physics interface (especially with the Phase variable). Do 2D physics need to be changed? Or, the 2D and 3D interfaces have the same phase definition.

We've published a paper where we compare different methods of simulating MRRs (2D, 2D axis-symmetric, 3D) focusing on their sensitivity towards ambient temperature (DOI: 10.3390/nano10050934).
In the simulations we employed the electromagnetic waves-interface (emw, RF Module) that does not require a phase definition like the electromagnetic waves, beam envelopes-interface (ewbe, WaveOptics Module).
Anyway to answer your question: for the ewbe-interface you have to define the phase in propagation direction, meaning the same phase-definition for 3D as in 2D but on the domain-level.
