I wonder if people using statistical analyses always check out the major assumptions before using the tests or not. While I see many people check for normality (if at all), I see fewer people check things like "equal population variances" in something widely used such as Analysis of Variance.

Is there a "problem" here, or do you feel that users of statistics check assumptions most of the time if not all of the time?
