Do anyone use RNA-ZOL for miRNA isolation? What is its efficacy and how does it works?

I want to isolate miRNA manually. Till now I have used kits for the same purpose. Recently I heard about RNA-ZOL, but have not found any article citing its use. Do anyone use it? .

A quick search on internet tells that it is nothing more than a typical guanidine thiocyanate/phenol mixture, commercially available from various manufacturers under various trade names (Tri reagent from Ambion, Trizol from Invitrogen, Qiazol from Qiagen, etc).
