If you are going to explore the unknown, I would suggest you do an gel embedded cell lysis in agarose plugs and follow it up with a PFGE, this should give your DNA, Plasmid and megaplasmids.
But if you already know what plasmids and other extrachromosomal materials are present but want them intact, you will have to use kits for genomic and plasmid extraction.
But if its shredded DNA ur after, then any DNA extraction kit should capture plasmid and chromosomal DNA.
Hello Sammy, you can use the kit like miniprep, midiprep or maxiprep to extract plasmids and genomic DNA from e-coli culture depending on the amount of the starting culture media. For example, 1 to 3 ml for miniprep, 3 to 10 ml for midiprep and above 10 ml for maxiprep.
