how can we explain the formation of copper oxides (CuO and Cu2O) by the decomposition of copper nitrate Cu(NO3)2.3H2O at higher temperatures (350 for exemple). one can give the chemical reaction?
Above answers are very correct. but let me give some warning: the end-product may contain NO and other gaseous oxides, please do not exclude these by-products.
I have a question to you too: did you observe Cu2O or only CuO? and did you use any reducing agent (e.g. carbon or hydrogen containing material)?.
for my coatings and according to XRD analysis, no peak related to Cu2O is detected. i have CuO only. for tha basic solution, i don't use ant aditionnal agent.

none. that is why I asked you whether you use any reducing agent or not. without reducing agent the only product is CuO, but if there is any reducer (C, H, etc) then Cu, Cu2O and CuO will come out.
not only a reducing agent make a multiple phase appears. there are many other parameters that make a secondary phase appears like molarity. for my present study, i am using another parameter which mike only one phase appears.
