I perform recombinant expression of the H+/sucrose symporter SRT1 in yeast, without signal peptide. After the expression, the transporter is purified and reconstituted into proteoliposomes for radioactive uptake experiments.

In some experiments, I get results that could indicate unspecific transport, like the transport against the proton gradient. Do you know any case of a transporter altering it's specificity to porin-like transport when misfolded?
