My project is on extraction, two different phases are reacting on the interface, and solute is being transferred across the interface, my analytes are Toluene, Diethylamine and Acetic Acid.
I have different systems in my analysis, In one system we are having water as a heavier phase and a mixture of toluene and Diethylamine as a lighter phase, after the formation of an interface between both the phases, we have to analyse both aqueous and organic phases. can we analyse both the phases in HPLC or we have to opt Gas Chromatography also.
I would suggest HPLC equipped with an MS detector. GC does not like water samples!
If you perform a liquid-liquid extraction of the water sample with Hexane you MIGHT be able to extract Diethylamine and Toluene into the Hexane for GC analysis. I doubt if Acetic Acid will transfer but you can use an Acclaim column and HPLC since it is an small organic acid.
Hello, all your components can be analyzed by GC. YOU can use GC-FID for organic phase do not try water phase on GC you will kill the system after that.
Water phase only by HPLC.
