Since we try to induce cell death on this cells, we would like to know more about their status: p53, Bcl2 et .... can someone tell us more?
For example during the course of our studies an article has described that in fact they are hemochomatotic:

This cell line is pretty considered a hepatocellular carcinoma cell line! It expresses a mutated p53 but functional. We are currently using it together with HepG2 and others and they show slight differences concerning molecular mechanisms

We use them for many experiments, but, what I can tell you is that effectively, they contained a more elevated level of iron, and this is of importantce for many metabolic pathways.

HepG2 is a hepatoblastoma cell line, it is not a hepatocyte carcinoma cell line.
Dear Patrice, we used HuH-7 as one of the carrier cell lines for stable transfection with a human clock gene promoter (hPer1-luc; Motzkus et al., JMNS 2002). Interestingly Interleukin-6 elevated this promoter activity independently of the common cAMP/PKA and PKC pathways. Regarding the hemochromatotic state of HuH-7 I can add that according to unpublished data from work of different people at IPF in Hannover 10 years ago, both healthy liver and HuH-7 express high levels of hepcidin (LEAP-1, see also Krause et al., FEBS Lett 2000).
