Received a comment from a reviewer. The reviewer commented that i should provide an estimate of the total uncertainty of the measurement (not just the sd (standard deviation) for the set of measurements). We are using SPSS 17.0 software for one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) for the statistic. A colleague explained that the reviewer would like to have further statistics such as the significant value or the correlation of the result. Hope someone can explain further regarding this matter. Could you explain a bit more what reviewer wanted from you and your analysis was about?

What the reviewer means is related to the error of your estimation. Standard Deviation of your data doesn't necessarily show that.
What you can do is to refer to your p-value. It represents how significant your result is. In SPSS, p-value is given in the output.

It is in our materials and methods section for sugar analysis, which is the data analysis part. We reported the data as the mean ± standard deviation and mention the statistic that we use. The reviewer would like us to provide the total uncertainty of the measurement as well. Other than that, the reviewer wants us to give 1 significant figure for uncertainties of colour analysis too. However, the significant figure for uncertainties is not so clear for us.
